"Our artistry is the desire to express what is within that lives inside us. Overcoming the fearful forces (poverty is a very real one, isn’t it?) is another kind of artistry. Both take tremendous courage." ~~http://www.lisasonora.com/

Ahhh, insight
I found this 'insight' today and feel it is so true. In trying to motivate the youthful artists in class, I hope to motivate them to grasp and embrace this concept.

My blob-It
First assignment for art class was to create a blob it. One big blob, 2 inner blobs, 2 outer blobs, 4 blobs (could be in or out) and one squiggly blob, either in or out. Rotate your sketchbook until you find the best it? Zentangle your it. Here's my example

Silk zentangled scarf
This weeks project was tangling on silk. The quantity of resist is hard to control. And some of the dye colors dry faster than others so getting a change in color by adding water is a learning experience. I need to order some of the metal tips from dharma trading co to control resist better. Then, the lines would be smoother and wouldn't be able to feel them.

Flying to Tampa
Since you have to turn off your 'electronic devices', I opened up the sketchbook and decided to draw. Not a lot of zentangle in this one but I've been having fun sneaking in a cat or bird in my strangle little scenes. Hope to add another couple of tangles on black while at the woodturners convention. This is sepia #1 pen without any shading.

Busy fun week
Last week was ATPI workshop in Allen. If anything is inspirational, it's hanging out with friends, having fun and learning. And, being in the awesome Allen high school.
So this week was about learning more and DOING! So I went to the Keller senior center and learned how to make a deco mesh wreath, painted a lighthouse, read a book, made some silly animals and basically relaxed. Here's pics of some of the activity.

End of school year
Another year has come and gone. This year went faster than others, and like its said, they just keep going faster every year. Not quite done with this tangle, going to add color and more shading but wanted to document where it was before I add color. Some times I think I ruin them with color.

For Audrey
Here is the zentangle I made for Audrey. Audrey has been my student for 2 years. Last year in graphic design and photography, and this year in my advanced class. Audrey is a quadriplegic. She works twice as hard as any student in my class and is always willing to try. She loves Pinterest and is working on publishing her creations to her Wordpress site.
One thing I've learned working with Audrey, is she is intelligent, creative and loves to have fun. But, without an aide or someone to assist her in staying current in technology, she will languish, probably at home, loosing all the abilities she has worked so hard to master.
Here's to Audrey and the pray someone becomes her advocate and encourages her continued growth.

The bumpy ride home.
Returned to Texas on Monday as Oklahoma was getting hurt so bad with tornados. The ride was bumpy but no issues, just a packed plane. Here's the completed zentangle I started on the flight to Boston.

Combo boots and frames
I love country outfitter boot ads on Facebook. Couldn't afford them but I keep seeing the wings and cross design. I like Maria Thomas framing, so thought I'd try a combo. I can't do straight so my wings and things always are lopsided.

Here's my official CZT website. Boy do I have work to do. But I'm excited to finally find the address and get something posted.

New tangle, no name or steps yet
This morning on the way to work, running low on fuel, I saw a gas station logo that made me think 'tangle'. In the first picture, it is barely viewable. I zoomed in on it in the second picture. It's a series of bean shapes with a curve to the top of a T inside. A tangleation to be sure.
From the weekend
Last weekend, I was pretty anxious so I spent some quality time tangling. Had some fun sticking some silly animals in the tangles.

Saturday tangling
Having fun with adding a stray cat, cow or critter. Relaxing Saturday, distressing and trying new drawing techniques combined with zentangle.

Art therapy mandala
I've found a site, it's on my Pinterest.com/sthillen page about art therapy. First one I read was about doing a mandala. Guess this one just confirms what I've always known, I can't color within the lines, and am not symmetrical! Still needs shading.

My first Zen Lady!
Thought I'd try so eyes and how that might evolve. No shading yet. Login' zen tangling again in my new sketchbook. Maybe will try some watercolor. I think she's sidewise in the picture :)

New sketchbook
I have a new sketchbook. Bigger than the last. Here's the cover. I love working on black with white. I wonder if there is a black page sketchbook?
