Amazing what a scanner shows!

Saturday was a wonderful day of tangling at the Jaycee Park at the Irving Arts Center. Angie does such a great job of being hostess, instructor and friend. We learned new tangles and started on a tumbler insert. Mine's for my Mom, maybe she'll feel better with a lid on her glass:) Here is one of my tiles. I scanned it, upped the levels but when I zoom in, I see how many 'holes' I'm leaving. Is that good or bad?

Colored Live and Love

Finally finished LIVE but wasn't happy with the contrast so I decided to add color. And, if I added color to live, I'd have to add color to love. So, here they are. Tonight, I start LAUGH. Why is it there are always parts of a tangle I REALLY like and other parts I wish I could do-over?

Tangled Love

First of the live, love, laugh series, here's to love.

Can I finally post Aaazzz on the how-to page?

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, so I am again trying to post to the How-to page.
How to make Aaazzz
Make an A
Any font, any size, as long as it has the cross bar.
Make a 2nd A (same style) but with the top of the 2nd A hitting the crossbar of the 1st A.
Repeat.
Many, many variations, cause if you leave a space you get a different texture that if they are small and tight. Try it, you'll like it!

T-shirt Zentangle for Alaina

My students will be making designs for t-shirts and since they will be one of a kind, iron type, I figured I should do a test. I decided to make a Zentangle for my niece to print/iron on a sweatshirt. Here's the design. Since I'm printing it on the iron-on, I've taken the liberty of Photoshoping the colors brighter than the original. Will take pictures of the sweatshirt when it's finished (good, bad or ugly)

At the desk early in the morning!

Sounds like the beginning to a country song! I've sort of gotten into the habit of checking out tanglepatterns.com how to draw such and such a tangle first thing in the morning. And, coincidentally, I have a black marker and scrap piece of heavy bristol paper in front of me. Here's my practice scrap. As usual with my art, parts of it I like, and parts I don't. I'm finding some patterns I really need to focus on (duh!), while others I can be freer and still have a tangle close to its original pattern.

Happy New Year!

It's been busy since school got out. I've done lots of tangles and put a couple of pieces already posted in the Zentangle Exhibit at the Irving Arts Center Show opening Jan. 9. I'm trying to do more letters that I can maybe print, add Illumination to, frame and maybe sell. So here's my first one, the letter G.
